Ul Music Award For Composition Goes to Student1iStephen Syverad, University! of Iowa graduate student who has held a teaching assistant-ship in music the last three years, has been named to receive the 1968 Philip Greeley Clapp Memorial Award in music composition. He is working for a PhD, in music composition at UI.The $50 award to an outsi§n, ing composition student in e UI School of Music has been made possible by contributions to a fund established in memory of Clapp, who was head of music at UI from 1919-1954.Syveroff, who earned BA and MA degrees from San Francisco State College will go to Jackson, Miss., to teach music theory and set up an electronic music studio at Jackson State College in September.
