These 10 were top students in their schoolsTen Metro Winnipeg high schools have announced their ! governor - general s medallists ! for 1964. Eight boys and two girls topped their graduating ! classes in scholastic and extracurricular achievement.The winners are:Grant Park High School: Bernard Vigod, 18, of 634 Queens-I ton St.s completed his Grade p 12 matriculation course with an . 86.6 percent average. His extra-I curricular activities included participation oa CBC - TV’s Reach for the Top program,1 editing the school yearbook, chairing the student council’s constitution committee and advising the school’s model JN delegation. He intends to enter . arts at university next fall, majoring in history. j' Kelvin High School: William * Bowie, 17, of 299 Campbell St. completed his Grade 12 matriculation course with an 88.9 per-e cent average His extra - ~ur-ricular activities were mainly s sports, including soccer, volleyball, track and field, indoor track and curling.Sisler High School: Russell * Greene, 17. of 463 Cairnsmore St., completed his Grade 12 with a 82.3 percent average. H i s r extra-curricular activities in-v eluded accompanist for the ;t school production of My vair Lady,” member of the current r events club and participation on i- Reach for the Top. He will take i-1 architecture at university.1 St. John’s High School .Tim I. Postl, 18, of 135 Inkster Blvd., i completed his Grade 12 with an 85 percent average. He wasschool president, member of the Manitoba Schools Orchestra, the school orchestra, the school yearbook staff and participated in the Reach for the Top program. His future plans include taking science at University College, and then going op into medicine or dentistry.Daniel McIntyre Collegiate:Jean Yamashita, completed her Grade 12 matriculation course this year and plans to take afts at university. She has won a number of scholarships during he. high school years, and has been active in sports. She has served as yearbook editor, and also was class valedictorian this year.Technical - Vocational High School: Nancy MacFarlane, 17, of 137 Balfour Ave. completed her Grade 12 commercial-alternate course this year and plans to enter the business world or possibly pursue university studies. She was grads editor on the school yearbook this year.St. James Collegiate: Michael Fox, 17, of 346 Winchester St. completed his Grade 12 matriculation course with an 85.5 percent average. His extra-curricular activities included being school president, member of the junior Kiwanis Key Club .nd participating in sports. He willenter commerce at university next fall.BASKETBALL MANAGERWindsor Park Collegiate; Robert William Campbell, 18, of 790 Elizabeth Road, completed his Grade 12 matriculation cours# with an 82 percent average. He was president of the boys’ sports council and manager of the basketball team. He will go to university this fall.Provencher Collegiate: Edouard Georges Turenne, 17, completed his Grade 12 after topping his class throughout his primary and secondary schooling. He has won a number of trophies: for best cadet at Clear Lake Cadet Camp, for activity points at school, and for bowling and shooting He intends to enter science at university and become a teacher.Elmwood High School: Tan Robert Thompson, 17, of 59 Cobourg Ave., completed h i s Grade 12 matriculation course with an 81.1 percent average. He represented his school at the model UN assembly, was a member of the winning Reach for the Top team, and served as president of the school chess club. He received the school prize for the highest average in English.
