Gwin Livery Stable -Built in 1817 Torn Down to Give Place to NewGarage.The large frame livery stable of Newland Gwin which has stood at the northwest corner of East Third and Market streets for nearly three quarters of a century in being torn down. With the passing of the livery stables brought about by the advent of the automobile, it will be converted into a garage. Mr. Gwin will build a handsome garage on the site.The livery stable is a land mark of the city. It was built just after the Mexican war in 1847 by the late Ber- j ry Gwin, grandfather of the present owner, and the livery and undertaking' firm of B. Gwin and Soils was estab-lished. Later the business passed into the hands of Mr. G win’s father the late J. Monroe Gwin and the Newland Gwin the present owner is the third1 generation of his family in charge of the business.
