In my woods, near a spring, nearly reached the entire distance between two trees —which measured afterwards were found to he sonic twenty feet apart.“About two weeks ago 1 lost a spring pig, which was running in the pasture. and have lost three more since that time.“Large storm came up and 1 was forced to leave and have found uo trace of the snake thus far.“Respectfully yours.“H. NVrc. Cernahan of the town of Union today in regard to the big snake above referred to as having invaded the Eden of Eau Claire Co. contrary to the peace and prosperity thereof.Mr. Cernahan said that he had not seen the snake, but as it was a great growing season in spite of the cool weather, and everything in the town of Union was three times as large this season as in previous years, he was open to conviction in regard to the story of the * monstrous reptile aforesaid.
