Pays Compliment .to Last Civil War Veteran(Courier Special Service)Lamont, la.—Gustave Jawkey, the only Civil war veteran resident here, was honored by the Woman's Relief corps with a picnic dinner on the occasion of his eighty-sixth birthday anniversary. Husbands of the women were included in the party.George Durham, who entered business here in 1886, is very ill at People's hospital in Independence, where he was taken from the home of his son Harry, Cedar Rapids. Mr. Durham became ill in his own home hare. He is the oldest merchant in Lamont.
