Youth With TalentiIs Their BusinessBy SCOOP LEWIS Courier-Times Staff WriterThe Croydon Acres Civic Association has embarked on its 1966 talent jamboree with new directors at the helm.Ronnie Aicher and Jack A. Ruths are the new leaders who are busy at work auditioning teenage talent for the group’s first show, “Guy and Dolls.” The talent jamboree is sponsored by the civic group with Mrs. William Gallagher in charge, assisted by A! Kenyon and Charles Bremme.Vince VanDyke, who directed the talent last year, had to yield the reins in quest of “bigger and better things,” Mrs. Gallagher pointed out. Since making a few national recordings, VanDyke has found it impossible to devote enough time to the Croydon group. 'Auditions are being held on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. at the old Croydon School, State Road and Emily Ave., Croydon. Some of the talent returning from last year includes Sue Farley, folk singer; Sharon Cordisco, who does a scintilating rendition of “People,” and Bob Haynes, with his style of “Sloopy.”Also, there’s Priscilla Brewington, who does a standout job on “Danny Boy,” and Johnny Rugg on the drums. \ •The ArdeJls. a combo of 13-and 14-year-old boys, had been rehearsing for four months and is ready to take part in future shows, report Mrs. Gallagher and Aicher. This panel of young Bristol Township youths is directing the talent jamboree of the Croydon Civic Association.
