NOTES FROM THE CAPITAL— . ■ —Den Moines, .Tan. 27, 1902.The board of health, at its recent session, through Its legislative committee, considered the legislation that will be advanced this session. An In' creased appropriation, totaling 910,MW, will be asked for to enable the board to do additional work. The increase will suffice to pay a state bacteriologist, for which office provision is wanted. More severe penalties for violation of the quarantine Iftws will be sought. The board wants the legislature to dear up the present doubtfully worded sections of the code relating to how the expenses of quarantine shall be borne, as between cities and counties. It is understood the state board of health will not directly attack the osteopaths, but wilt await the Introduction of a bill which, it is said, the osteopaths will present regulating osteopathic practice. This bill will be examined by the legislative committee of tho board of health and If it in not suitable modifications will be urged. Tho board feels the legislature imposed the osteopathic practice on the state and that tho legislature ought to regulate it. Dr. A. M. Linn made a verbal report to the board showing the Tattm Indians had nearly all recovered from aijmHpox and that a part of the wtckteups of tho tribe had been burned.
