Affair.Agent Rebel: of the Sac and Fox Indians 'in Tania County succeeded in heading off a sensational elopement which has stirred society circles 011 the reservation to their depths. He has stopped an elopement in which the squaw of Black Cloud, a Mus-quaki of the Sac and Fox reservation of Oklahoma, ran away with Buck Green, a wily brave of the same blood but a member of the Tama reservation. Mrs. Black Cloud, the “woman in the case,” is the wife of the breve who recenty came into prominence by being sentenced to the penitentiary for defrauding the government. Since Black Court's incarceration his squaw has been making her home at the Tama reservation within 300 feet of Buck Green’s wjgwam. This fostered the spirit uf jealousy in the heart of Buck’s squaw, who must be 61 years of age, and she complained to Agent Uebok about the infidelity o£ her spouse. Mr. lie bo k looked into the matter at the time the com-plaint was made, and upon bringing Green before the seat of justice his squaw went back on her convictions and testified that her Buck had been a good Indian and had occupied his own wickiup every night. The charms of Mrs. Black Cloud, however, who is a young woman, probably S3, could not be resisted by the noble red man, and events took a sudden turn when Mrs. Buck Green hastened to Agent Rcbok’s office and informed him that Green had gone and the neighboring wickiup of Mrs. Black Cloud was. vacant. Agent Rebok, upon learning the story of the distressed squaw, telephoned to the Northwestern agent’ at Marshalltown, who replied that two Indians answering to the description given had- purchased tichets for Oklahoma via Council Bluffs and iiad left the city. Agent ttebok wired to Carroll to the chief of police and Buck Green was arrested by that official. The squaw was not molested, but was allowed to continue her journey to Oklahoma, where she belongs and where her children live.
