Mr. Shellhart dug up the letter in his flower bed recently. The copper sheet is seven inches long and four inches wide. On it is scrolled: To a Clam Dinner, September 9, 1821. The letter was written in Providence, H. X., and the body of the message read: You are. invited to attend the 21stannual Rhode Island clam dinner tendered to the election of Eugene p. Phillips, general manager of the American Electrical, Works of Davidson, R. I. !The letter is quite legible and in a good state of preservation, Mr. Shellhart states, I
