rsiON TO HIGH SCHOOL316 RECEIVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DIPLOMAS AT MIDYEAR PROMOTIONThe exercises of promotion from the eighth grade to the ninth grade of the high school are to be held in the highschool auditorium this afternoon (Friday, January 24). A large ‘number of parents and friends are expected to fill the auditorium and a fine group of boysand girls Trom the ten elementary schools in Oak Park will be awarded certificates of promotion allowing them to enter the Oak Park-River Forest Township high school; The class is to be presented by Supt. W. J. Hamilton who will speak of the changes which are taking place in theelementary curriculum making for more adequate preparation for the work of the high school. Mr. James J. Garvey, President .of the Board of Education, will present the certificates and the class will he received on behalf of the high school by Principal M. R. McDaniel.An interesting feature of the elementary school promotions is the fact that thegirls appear in dresses which 5are de-# signed and made in Household Arts de-partments of the several schools. It is interesting to note that each year this particular phase of work in household arts shows advancement and some of the girls are capable of designing and making gowns which will do credit to theprofessional seamstress.James T.
