AURELIA, (CHEROKEE (COUNTY), IOWA THURSDAY, JANUARY *3, 1958KNIGHTS, PYTHIAN SISTERS HOLD JOINT INSTALLATIONJoint installation services for the Knights of Pythias and Pythian Sisters - were held at the KP hall Thursday evening.The Knights of Pythias opened the services with presentation of the flag by Dale Robar, acting as Grand Master at Arms, escorted by Mrs. Marvin Bengtson and Mrs. Henry Anderson.Robert Jackson, Deputy Grand Chancellor, assisted by Mr. Robar, Grand Prelate Merle Nelson and Grand Secretary Harold Nelson, installed the following officers:Chancellor Commander, Hugo Hucke; Vice Chancellor, Chris Ludwig; Prelate, Arthur Ohlson; Master at Arms, Guy Akers; Secretary, John Galvin; Financial Secretary, Bernard Johnson; Treasurer, Ralph Peterson; Master of Work, Dr. L. R. Morton; Inner Guard, Fred Fassler; Outer Guard, Dale Robar.The Chancellor Commander Hugo Hucke expressed a few words of appreciation and the meeting was turned over to the Pythian Sisters.The Sisters proceeded with a candlelight service. The MEC, Mrs. Clifford Menefee, presented corsages from the Past Chief’s club to the installing officer, Mrs. Edwin Engdahl, to Grand Manager Mabel Johnson and to the Grand Senior, Mrs. Herb Grienke.The Mesdames D. J. Friedlund, Bernard Johnson, Albert Stutz, Fred Jordan, George Wieland and Clifford Bruce, dressed in white formals and carrying lighted tapers, lit the candles at the stations and formed aisles for the officers and flower girls. While Mrs. Marvin Bengtson sang “ Sweet and Lovely,” the flower girls, Judy Crapser and Theresa Fierk, gave each officer a red rose from the Past Chief’s club. The Grand Manager and Grand Senior then escorted each officer to her station. Officers installedwere:MEC, Mrs. Frank Crapser; Excellent Senior, Mrs. Ray Shaw; Excellent Junior, Mrs. Harry Wilson; Manager, Mrs. Vernon Fierk; Secretary, Mrs. T. H. Mummert; Treasurer, Mrs. Garland Menefee; Protector, Mrs. Chris Ludwig; Guard, Mrs. Henry Anderson; Past Chief, Mrs. Cliff Menefee.Other officers for 1958 will be: Pianist, Mrs. Arthur Ohlson; Press Correspondent, Mrs. Arvid Anderson; Staff Captain, Mrs. Herb Grienke and Flag Escorts, Mrs. Arvid Anderson and Mrs. Cliff Bruce.The temple pianist, Mrs. Art Ohlson, provided music for the services and was accompanist for Mrs. Bengtson’s solos. Following the services, each officer placed her rose in a vase and they were presented to the MEC, Mrs. Crapser, by the flower girls.The new MEC addressed the group, then introduced CG Hugo Hucke, who spoke a few words, then introduced DDGC Ralph Peterson, PGC Mabel Johnson and Grand Manager Mrs. Herb Grienke. each of whom snnke a fewRites Held Saturday For Dr. R. A. MortonFuneral services for Dr. Ray mond A. Morton, 77, of Aurelia, were held Saturday, Jan. 18. from the Aurelia Congregation:! I church, with the Rev. Douglas Ostlund conducting the rites. Dr.; Morton passed away unexpeet , edly Wednesday. Jan. 15, in Sioux ; Valley hospital from a heart ail - i ment. Burial was in the cemetery jat Shelby, la. Pallbearers were j Hans Anderson. A. E. Stutz. Har j ry Howell, O. C. Hickey, D. \V.;Dcyloff and Fred Metty. j*Dr. Morton was born March 7,j 1880, at Shelby. la. He attended! Iowa University and was a mein ‘ ber of the championship foot - j ball teams at the turn of the' century. He graduated from the University of Iowa's school of dentistry in 1901, then took upj his dental practice at Cresco.In 1909 Dr. Morton gave up his* dental practice to become one ot : Iowa’s pioneer automobile deal-; ers, as he opened a Ford deal ership at Mason City. He oontin ued in the automobile business I until 1934, during which time he also was a resident of Yankton. S. D., and Sioux City. He was employed by the state income taxj department from 1934 until 1939. when he joined the Rucklos Calcium Carbonate Co., of Lincoln.! Neb., the company he represent -j ed at the time of his death. jDr. Morton served on the board of education at Mason City for eight years during his residence there. He moved to Aurelia three years ago.He is survived by one son. J. K. Morton of Sioux Falls, S. D.; two daughters, Mrs. Marshall Ervin of Mason City, and Mrs. F. L. Mullaliy of San Francisco, and five grandchildren. His wife, Edith, preceded him in death in 1951.SCOUTS URGED TO ATTEND REORGANIZATIONAL MEETINGAll Boy Scouts, and boys of Scout age, are urged to attend a roorganizational meeting, to be! held at the Scout Lodge next I Monday evening at the Scout! lodge, beginning at 7:30 o’clock. IThe Aurelia troop will be reorganized and new patrols will be added in preparation for increased Scout activities which arc being planned.Aurelia’s Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are invited to join troops from Holstein and Larrabee at a skating party, to be held in Cher okee this (Thursday) evening.
