He is the only player in the game that, plays haskwards. He calls himself 100 Years Too Early”' and if you could have seen the way in which he controlled the cue ball you would understand why.His record of 180 balls back-- wards is tops. The present fort-ward record of 309 straight runs is held by two men, Ervin Crane and Willie Moscami, the man who claims to be champ of the 1950 pool artists,. . 'Yonders has defeated five world Cham peons frontward style. The 45-year-ol,d • artist defeated the great Ralph Greenleaf back in 191,9. Greenleaf was: IS times champ. Yonders paid him a high tribute by calling him the greatest and most amazing champ ever to hold a cue stick in his hand.Other champs defeated by Yonders are George Kelly, Jimmy Caras, Thomas Hues ton, and a manP. SL Jonas at Belhaven at Roper. Farm Life at Rath. Aurora at HotnuckemIInamed Ponzi. In calling the game one of our greatest sports. Yonkers said that too many people have been mislead who didn’t understand the sport.'That remark made by the Baltimore artist is certainly true. Pool, like any other game of sport, can and Is just as clean as sitting in your own home playing a game of bridge. It has been true many times that pool, has been kicked and knocked around just because someone next door heard that - a certain youngster was down at the local pool hall, in any city, associating with bad company.Such nonsense and. seuttlebut has ruined many a decent pool hall. And. a gentleman by the name- of Leon Yonders will vouch for it.But getting back to our artist friend, he never uses a bridge or sits on a table,, Everything he does, every shot he makes must be from strict control of the ball at times.far as tasting defeat from young Sellers, that is what makes the game great. A mfc-cue, ling table, a speck of dirt, numerous other inciden talsandcanmess up any Yonderscrowd an a-PARK-VIEWmazing exhibition of cue ball artistry. The Mecca Pool hall went to a lot of trouble to bring such a man to Washington. Just last week another great name, Jimmy Caras, visited the same place.Yonders loves the game. He loves the impossible shots,.,,., makes them too. If you miss this exhibition maybe in the future the Mecca will bring others to Washington... Make no mistake bout it, the game is clean.
