The result is a frozen lake with “a very smooth surface,” said one carnival offidaJ.The icy covering over the lake measure about 12 inches and is expected to easily hold the cro’vd of visitors expected for the eighth annual carnival.Last weekend the‘ice fishing Thomas Schcnkel of Rochester hid the winning string of fish with Stanley Andrzyowslti of Palmyra in second place,‘ 25^ inch walleye weighing%y8 pounds netted Robert Lein-fran of Naples a first place trophy. Charles H. McBride of Rochester was the second place winner. An 11-year-old Holcomb youth, Brad Strang, was named the firsst place pickerel winner with his 416 pound catch. Ronald Nichols of Atlanta came in second.The carnival will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday and continue through Sunday.
