Tell of Purpose of Political Group.Wabasha, Minn.—(Special to The Republican-Herald)— Initial steps in the organization of a Wabasha county unit of the Association against. the Prohibition Amend-, ment, similar to the organisation now functioning at Winona, itffere taken here last night at a meeting of 40 Wabasha, Plainview, Lake City, Elgin and Weaver men interested in the movement.A delegation of Winonans, headed by Dr. W. W. Nauth, chairman and. H. J. Honcr, secretary, of the Winona unit of the wet organization, attended the meeting, told of the purposes of the grdup and outlined the plan used there, in get-'k { ' - ” ». ' '4*ting started, ^ j; i -vD. W, Byrne, one of the owners of the Wabasha Herald-Standard, was elected temporary chairman and Wayne Martin wa% elected temporary secretary. A: nominating committee to suggest names for a permanent executive committee and. an arrangement committee to prepare for a public mass meeting to bo held soon, were appointed ,by the chair.“Helping organize the movement in Wabasha county will give' you great satisfaction and you will be astounded at the response you will get from county residents who will voluntarily join,0 Representative Harold Atwood of Winona declared' in outlining the work of .the Winona ,unlt. since its inception. “We have more than 3,000 members and feel that we are getting 'along splendidly.0B. R* Nevius, Winona, said the purpose of the organization is political, that it will give its support only to those candidates for state or national legislative posts who subscribe to the principles of the association and he stressed the point that women are invited to join or affiliate with the women’s organization for national prohibition reform, now being formed in’ Minnesota by Mrs. Charles N, 8 a-bln of New York.Urges Defeat of Christgaau ,?We must beat this man Christ-gau,” Mr. Nevius told the meeting, “because he is definitely allied with the drya. If you favor his re-election, then you’re not a member of this group because he’s on the other side of the fence.’*Charles Ramcr, Wabasha, said he believed the organization would receive the whole-hearted support of farmers throughout the county.“Wabasha county is the best bar-ley-producing region in the country,” he asserted, “and the farmers want to sell their barley. We want puro malt barley beer back.,,.Then watch barley prices go up add ade how the present overproduction will be wiped away. Our farmers realize this situation, as well as general conditions resulting fromprohibition, and will help us.” ‘ .It is planned to have a public massmeetlng here in the near future at which St. Paul and Minneapolis men will speak. At that time the executive committee will bo formed, permanent officers elected and a drive for membershiplaunched.Members of the arrangement committee for the massmeetlng are Prank O’Flaherty, Wabasha, chairman, William Llndemeyer, Lako City, and Alex Huddlestone, Wabasha, vice-chairman, E.
