AN ELEGANT PARTY.Given LMt Evening at the LoritnierHouse by Mrs. Langstroth.One of the most elegant balls, and cer- I tainly one of the most enjoyable—if the ex- I periences of the guests are a criterion—given in Dubuque for a long while was that at the Lorimier house last evening, of which Mrs. r Clara Langstroth was the hostess. The en- I tire second floor of the spacious hotel was I thrown open to the guests. Mrs. Langstroth received in the pretty east parlors, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Charles E Wales, Mrs. I William Barnard, Miss Brown of Chicago, I and Miss Annie Clark. After the reception, | dancing was the order for the remainder of , the evening in the dining hall. This was L most prettily trimmed with evergreens, flags t and festoons. ,There have been no parties in Dubuque \ that have surpassed this in elegance of L dress and but few that have equalled it. I , The ladies certainly looked charming and | their best, and when Dubuque ladies are in { their party dresses they are surpassed in , good looks by but few if any cities in the • I west. Choice refreshments ^were served in n I some of the south rooms on the floor. The , I music w as better than Dubuque music has been for some time, and was all that could I be wished.
