Preparing For Detroit Lakes Summer CarnivalDETROIT LAKES — Gordon Hutton, chairman of the 18th annual Detroit Lakes Water Carnival.. has named five assistants for the July 4 program here.The new vice chairman appointed by Hutton for the carnival are Dr. Joseph Neitzke, in charge of paid attractions; James Hegvik, hospitality events; R. W. Irvine, water events; Dr. Duane Wething, booster button sales; and John Mason, treasurer.The water carnival is sponsored by the Detroit Lakes Junior Chamber of Commerce.Detroit Lakes Jaycees Young Man Of The YearDETROIT LAKES—This community’s outstanding young man of 1953 will be named at the annual Jaycee Founders’ Day banquet here Thursday, with Minnesota Gov. C. Elmer Anderson as featured speaker. ■Plans for the banquet, to be j held in the Rossman School, have ■ been completed by the committee, | directed by co-chairmen Dr. T. A. Rogstad and R. W. Irvine. Dr. Gar Hanson, Fergus Falls, regional vice president of the U. S. £ Junior Chamber of Commerce, ^ and Minnesota Jaycee President j Robert Stearns, Hutchinson, have been invited as guests of honor.The 1952 award was given to Walter Anderson.
