}A Woman in Male Attire Chases a FalseLover.We take the following romantic articlefrom the Chieaco Journal :lt;—Officer McCarty, who is stationed at the a Central depot, Chicago, arrested a woman | dressed in male attire, at the Massasoit House, on Thursday. She goes by the namefuof Cliarley Smith, and is a good lookin': tiAmerican woman about twenty-nine years of age. She was dressed in a greyish coat, lt;dark pants, velvet vest, and wore a black j i Kossuth hat. Her black hair was cut short, 11 and but for her voice, her disguise would j j have been perfect :She belongs in Macon county, near Mon-ticello, where she had friends living, but no parents. Her name she refused to give. She says she has been married before, and has a hoy eight years of age at school in .Decatur. ller husband is dead. Last summer she became acquainted with a man who lived in Macon county, and he promised to c marry her. Some time since, however, he ! went to McHenry countv to itet work, and from that time until the present she had heard nothing from him. Believing him to he false to his word, she donned male attire and set out to find him. She accordingly took the train on the L. C. 11. 11., and arriving at Chicago, she put up at the Mnssa-soit House intending to go on to McHenry county.
