It is not Top 40 or album rock,” said Nakel. The eomoanv’s own research found a. r • 4 IilCCU X Ui tl lUUiU uuiuthe 18- to 34-year-old audience, althoughWBEA’s new format will chiefly be aimed at the 25- to 34-year-old group. This is a “‘virtually untapped segment of the Lorain County listening audience” said Nakel. WBEA also expects to pick up listeners in Cuyahoga and other surrounding counties with its 50,000-watt signal.THE CHANGE also was made because both WBEA and its sister station, WEOL-AM, are aimed at an older audience which is slowly declining while the young adult radio audience is increasing. No changes are planned in the formal of WEOL.“We found that there was a void in this predominately 25-34 age group which no other station in Lorain County was really filling,” Nakel said.Music will be pre-recorded on tape cartridges and changes made daily by thefirm to- - -*•» %*« » *« • € • * w ^ WiiWiNews, weather, boating information, school closings and community interest features also will be part of the programming. The station’s bee logo was developed by Chronicle-Telegram staff artist Bob Lynch.Broadcasting to, wiuctt also operates two radio stations in Florida.
