If so, check out Sounder; Its honesty is refreshing.Starring Paul Winfield, Cicely Tvson and Kevin Hooks, “Sounder” exolores tbe brutalities that flacks have beep forced to endure throughout the centuries, while at the same time building -a country which has historically denied them first-class citizenship.Paiil Winfield and Cicely Tyson star as mother and father in a movie featuring some of the most positive images of Blacks ever seen on screen. Winfield Is particularly outstanding as a strong father figure who sacrifices all for the survival of his family. Ho portrays a Black man—not a clown.When he steals food to feed his starving family, Winfield, the father, is caught and carted of to a prison camp. While in jail, his family is threatened with eyjction _by the man who owns the farm they sharecrop. The mother refuses to say die and brings in a cash cron with only the children to help her.
