Peg Leg Sam Jackson Victim Of Disfiguring Pistol BlastPEG LEG SAM IN ACTIONTAR BORO - Peg Leg Samj Jackson, the old medicine show man who has become a tradition around the Rocky Mount tobacco market with his mouth organ play-j mg and ‘tap” dancing on a •wooden leg, is in fair condition at Edgecombe General Hospital after getting part of his face shot off Sunday morning.The shooting occurred when Peg Leg got caught in the middle of a family squabble on the Pittman farm about four miles east of Whitakers.Lonnie Parker and his wife Wil-lia Mcnncr Parker were having a squabble a little after midnight. Lillie Mae Warren, Mrs. Parker’s daughter, was in on the argument] also, according to the report from] Deputy Sheriff Reddin Webb. The: incident took place in her home.!Lonnie Parker allegedly had aj pistol. Sam tried to gel the pistol to break up the fight. At this point, Lillie Mae’s contribution; was to yell for help.Roscoe Bunn, who lives alxnit 25 yards from the house, heard the commotion, grabbed his shotgun and rar over to “help out,When Roscoe came in the doorj with shotgun in hand. Peg Leg, Lonnie. Willia, and Lily Mae were struggling in a turbulent pile on^the floor.Roscoe, still with shotgun in, hand, tried to shove Sam and; Lonnie out the door.
