AROUND THE COUNTYSTODDARDStoddard. January 7—The M. E. Church was in holiday attire Christmas even when the officers of the church entertained at a chicken supper. The tables were centered with small Christmas trees prettily decorated. The Sunday school scholars were given bags containing nuts, candy and fruit, also other gifts. It was such a church party as sent all home with joy in their hearts as well as a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year or. their lips.Misses Cecelia and Emma Twite of LaCrosse spent the holidays at their parental home and at the home of their sister Mrs. John Heslip.Miss Henrietta Woodward spent the holidays at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Woodward near Genoa.Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Axlen returned home Monday having spent Christmas with relatives in DeSoto vicinity.Mrs. Lulu Hopkins and children spent Christmas at Newton at the home of her sister, Mrs. Harry Kish.Clarence Koblitz is home from the LaCrosse business college for his holiday vacation.Mrs. George Wolf and daughter Marcella were week end visitors at the home of Mrs. Wolf’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Blashek.Mr. Chester Hall and Mr. Techne of LaCrosse were guests at the Ed Koblitz home Monday.Henry A. Robinson served at a witness Tuesday at the hearing of the Sebion-Nundal tria.The directors of the Farmers asd Merchants State Bank held their quarterly meeting Wednesday, December 21st. Mr. E. C. Amann of Prairie du Chien was in attendance.Little Betty Jane Bluske, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Bluske, who has been seriously ill with pneumonia, is recovering nicely.Virgil Bogart of LaCrosse spent a fewr days with Earl Owen and other friends.Miss Mildred Blashek entertained at her home on Tuesday and Friday evenings. The diversion of the evenings were music and 500. Four tables were played Tuesday^and three on Friday. On Tuesday evening first favors were aawred Mrs. Wr. J. Lamp-rich and Walter Koblitz second to Mrs. H. P. Kircher and Marion Davis. Friday evening the first favors were awarded Mrs. Guilford Hanesworth and James A. Wall and second to Will Billings and Mrs. Lon Scholl. Luncheon was served.Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Axlen entertained at a dinner Thursday evening. Cocers were laid for eight. Following the dinner 500 was played.
