ail in which they are confined and lynch hem as was done in Grant County. The eason however, is quite plain to us.The one-sided system of giving slight publicity to crime in which only white people ire implicated, and staging lynchings when colored citizens are accused cf similar wrong doings, ig a chronic example of the type ot civilization of which America should be a-*hamed. We note, not with any degree of surprise that the alleged attackers have not yet been murdered. That is evidently because they are not colored, which goes to show from what transpired in Marion a few months ago that in the estimation of Indiana mob leaders the sin of criminally attacking women is not as objectionably hideous when committed by white men as when perpetrated by members of the opposite race. Very dangerous inconsistency indeed. It is also a clear case of deep seated prejudice, rotten politics and cheap treachery. How long the system will be permitted to prevail in Indiana is beyond our knowledge. But we do know that something should be done to protect the name of our good old Hoosier commonwealth from falling unto category of an unsafe State in which to live. It is fairly on the road to that status now.MAKE YOURSELF.Make yourself out of whatever material you find at hand. Use every possible advantage and build yourself. The flower stands in its appointed place and reaches out to the sun, rain, and earth, to build itself, to grow and bud and bloom!
