Catechetical Outreach Director Is AnnouncedS.M. Cynthia Kilian, C.S.S.F., has been appointed the new county catechetical outreach director. This appointment is part of a general master plan for the diocese — to reach out to local parishes within the eight counties through the appointment of a resource person available to meet the individual needs of every local parish. The appointment was the result of collaboration with the Education Committee of Region 22 and 23 and the staff members of the Department of Education in the diocese.Since her appointment, Sister Cynthia has established two outreach offices, one at St. James Parish in Jamestown and the other at St. Anthony’s Parish in Fredonia. Both offices are central to the outlying parishes in the county, so that religious education personnel may be contacted individually and meet regularly to share concerns and receive support for their ministry. With the continuing consolidation and regionalization of Catholic schools and with the closings of certain parochial schools, part of the master plan to preserve Catholic education is to strengthen religious education programs and support, accredit and certify personnel to meet the catechetical needs of the parishes. Sister Cynthia will make this a priority in her new position, in addition to equipping the two offices with current publications and texts, as well as media equipment needed for her outreaching to all 23 parishes inthe eounty,
