LaBelle Merriman dies Sunday at 85 yearsMrs. LaBelle Merriman, 85, formerly of 152 Caldwell St., died Sunday, Jan 8, at the Meline Nursing Center.She was bom Jan. 16, 1898 in Bluffs, the daughter of Geor ge and Johannah Hubbert Vannier.She married Harry C Merriman, who preceded her in death in 1968.She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leland (Carla Jo) Huh of Jacksonville; a son, Don Lee Merriman of Rockford; four grandchildren, Janet Huh Rafferty of Springfield, Paul Ruh of Jacksonville, Terry Lee and Donald Lee Merriman of Rockford; six greatgrandchildren. •She was preceded in death by a brother Paul and three sisters, Ida, Cora and LenaMrs. Merriman was a teacher at Winchester High School before retiring in 1974. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, the Garden Club, the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Art Association and numerous other organizations.Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a m at Salem Lutheran Church with burial in Trinity Church Cemetery in Ncelyville. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p m Tuesday at the Cody and Son Memorial Home Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Tuesday. Memorial gifts may bemade to Salem Lutheran Church
