Residents report woiflike creature walking on two legs on back roadsEEKHORN (AP) — Reports of a woiflike, man-sized creature roaming the back roads of Walworth County on two legs at night most likely are a simple case ot mistaken identity, a sheriffs officer says. And residents on Bray Road northeast of Elkhorn, where the sightings have been reported, say the sightseeing traffic is more frightening than anythingthey’ve seen so far.Linda Godfrey, who wrote about the sightings in The Week newspaper of Delavan Dec. 29, told theMilwaukee Sentinel the reports she has heard all give a similar description of the mysterious creature.“Nobody knows what it is, but they’re seeing it, and they all described it as being wolflike . . . with the snout and the fangs and the pointy ears. Much larger than a dog, she saidft. Gerald Watson of the Walworth County SheriffsDepartment suggested people reporting the sightings might have seen a coyote with a deformed leg sticking out in a way that makes it appear to be standing on twolegs.Or the animal could be “some kind ot hybrid of a wolf and a large dog.” Watson said.Godfrey said she doesn’t think the creature is “anything supernatural,” but three unrelated witnesses toldher of seeing the creature, and “there’s a pretty good consensus on what it looks like and its behavior.“One woman thought it would be about the same size as a man who would be about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 150 pounds,” she said “And it's been observed running and walking on two legs ”Godfrey illustrated her newspaper story with a drawing of a woiflike beast kneeling beside the pavement, cradling a piece of road kill in its front legs.
