Swedberg. of Rhinelander, reported to be commanding Allied forces in the Buna Mission sector on New Guinea, is ‘ working hard, is well and safe, Mrs. Swedberg was advised in a cablegram from her husband today.The cable followed by a day a letter dated Dec. 15. 1942, from Lieut. Col. Swedberg. In it he said:“Have much to be thankful for today and have given thanks. Made our first big.attack yesterday and were successful in capturing a place that had been giving us much trouble. We took it without having anyone kiiled and had very few wounded.Paradowski (Lieut. Gerald Paradowski, of Milwaukee, former Rhinelander attorney) got nipped in the leg above the knee and will probably be back withus tomorrow. My orderly got a slight wound but is still with me. A grenade burst in my command post during the fight but we were too busy to be bothered with it.“Slept last night in a Jap bed between dry Jap blankets. Picked up a silk undershirt in a Jap dump so feel dressed up again. This note is on their paper.“Everything is quiet today and we are getting reorganized and cleaned up.
