Wylandj'flf Santa Rosa, California, formerly*of this city, sent us a clipping from a Santa Rosa paper which will he of' interest to many friends in this county as Vernon Keller, the writer of the letter referred to, Is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Keller, who lived in Lucas county for; fanny years prior to their removal to California. Vernon was the first boy from Sonoma county, California, to enlist In the world war and was the ; first California boy to land in France. He was wounded and gassed on the battle fields of France, but now is married and a prosperous fanner In California. The article referred to1 follows:“Where a letter, written by Vernon Keller, son of Mrs. Ida Keller of Santa Rosa, while ho was in France with the Marines, 10K* months before the Armistice, has wandered during the nine years of Its Journey, no one knows, but the epistle, somewhat battle-scarred and dog-eared, reached Mrs. Keller, Monday. The letter was re-addressed by (I. Selby, Peaks Island, Maine, and although the original envelope was around the missive, n second envelope was added for protection. No explanation as to how the letter came into Selby's possession was given.
