lyd-Wings Scholarship(Continued from PAGE ONE-A)award* for the year 1947 because Cleveland is the birthplace of WINGS OVER JORDAN.Because of a solid schedule, the famous choir of WINGS OVER JORDAN will be unable to mak the trip to Cleveland for the occasion of the scholarship award however, on* of the nation’s best Negro choirs has been engaged for the public ceremonies when the scholarship will be awarded The John Howard Choir, heard currently over the red network of the National Broadcasting Com pany through station WTAM ii Cleveland wfll furnish even-ing music when the scholarship will be awarded January 7th at 8:00 p. m. m the Gethsemane Baptist Church, East 30th Street and Scovill Avenue, where Rev. Glynn T. Settle formerly servelt; as pastor. It was while Rev. Settle officiated as pastor of the Geth semane Baptist Church that WINGS OVER JORDAN was ere!!I IIN IMPRESSIVE home ceremonies Lovely Clara Sue Jones on Christmas Day became thebride of Mr. Moses Saulsberry at the Glenville home of Mrs. Maggie Wright, her aunt, ofated, commencing a career which las surpassed any such organisation in all history.Upon returning to tfee United States from abroad where the WINGS OVER JORDAN CHORAL ENSEMBLE served the fighting forces of the Allied Nations, the choir in* an effort to comply with the tremendous appeal for personal appearances all over the nation, haa been constantly on touj* away from Cleveland since March, 1946. Their chedule runs well into 1948 with two’ moving pictures to be completed before they can possibly return for any lengthy stay in the city of Cleveland, •’ Miss Mildred C. Ridley, Executive Secretary and Manager of WINGS OVER JORDAN left iouaton, Texas on the 20th headed for Cleveland to spend the holidays with her mother and at the same time, complete the final Ictails for the coming of the famed radio Director, Rev. Glynn T. Settle, who will arrive in the city on January «th to be present fo awarding WINGS OVER JORDAN’S first 1947 scholarship oi January 7th. Rev. Settle hard planned to spend several day* wit: his family here, however, he mus fly immediately after the scholarship award to St. Louis where th choir I* to make .special recordings for their rot* ia the all Ne-gio newsreel now In the making.A delightful program will be prepared for all who attend the ceremonies at th* Gethsemane Baptist Church to witness th*awarding of the WINGS OVERJORDAN scholarship on JanuarytIETThere will be no admisaiorcharged and the general public hinvited.
