RIPON MAIL CARRIER RETIRED FROM SERVICERipon. VTis.—(Special) — William L. Kurth, one o£ the three original mail carriers for the city of Ripon, retired on his 65th birthday.Mr. Kurth entered the service as mall carrier on March 15, 1905. At the time the Ripon postoffice instituted the city mail carrier i service, three routes were established. William L. Kurth, Frank E. TinWiam and Reiner B. Schal-lern were appointed as carriers. Mr. Schallem resigned his position to move to Florida April 1, 1911, and was succeeded by George Pasco, who has been retired since 1931, Mr. Tinkham is still in the postal sendee.Appropriate ceremony was accorded Mr. Kurth, a complete surprise to him. As he left to cover his ' mail route for the lost time his photograph was taken and upon his return from the trip the curfew was sounded. All of the postal employes assembled at the postoffice to greet the veteran carrier at the conclusion of his last round and, in behalf of the employes, Postmaster E. G. Prell-witz presented him with a handsome electric clock.Mr. Kurth's term of service at the Ripon postoffice covered 301 | years and nine months.
