Kenosha boy electrocutedBy DAVE ENGELS Staff WriterA 16-year-old former Kenosha boy was electrocuted at 1 a.m. Thursday when his companions said he slipped and fell against a portable electric sign along the sidewalk in front of a video tape store at 6916 Sheridan Road.Brian Bardwell, Racine, a student at J. I. Case High School until this month, was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m. at Kenosha Memorial Hospital. Coroner Thomas Dorff said the youth suffered entry and exit burns to right fingers and knuckles. An autopsy has been scheduledPolice said Bardwell and two companions were walking home from a video games arcade.Anthony Montoya, 14 , 5620 23rd Ave., and Martin Acosta, 16 , 5906 19th Ave., who said they were friends of Bardwell before he moved to Racine, told police Bardwell slipped on the snow-covered sidewalk and his right hand came in contact with the sign. The boys said Bardwell screamed, his legs gave way. and he slowly sagged to thepavement.A Pleasant Prairie rescue squad returning from a transport to KMH came upon the scene within moments and was flagged down. The three crewmen began cardiopulmonary resuscitation and were able to restore pulse and breathing for brief periods but were unable to completely revive the boy.In a report to police, crewman Hank Ausse, 34, said he received a jolt when he attempted to pull the boy away from the sign. The trio freed the boy by wrapping a rope around his feet and pulling him away from the sign.Dorff said Bardwell and his stepfather and his mother, Ola M. Bryant, recently moved to Racine from Kenosha. 1
