ANTIQUE FLASK DISCOVERED AT DUNBARAn antique flask found during ihe demolition of an oid Dunbar house is a recent addition to the glass collection of Harold Kelly of Dunbar, pictured above. A manual published by an antique organization describes bottles similar to this, with picture* of pronhnetr person* b!o\ n ;n*o t Y p glass, dating us manufacture at approximately1 o*”Id J.The band-blown bottle, of greenish-blue glass, has a picture of George Washington on one side and General Zachary Taylor on the other. It was made at the Mar boro St. factory in Keene, X Y.f bv blowing molten glass into a mold. Betweeni 11817 and 1850. only 28 flasks bearing the General Taylor portrait were made, Kelly said.The find was made at the site of the Foreman house in Dunbar, well over 100 years old. which was demolished to make way for construction of v !'orv Jam?* Barle't of Dunbar, watching I-s s*. fi* tT »ir.the demolition, spotted the bottle, and obtained it vhh permission cf the owner Kelly. v,+o has a large collection of antiques, acquired it from him. Also featured in his collection are a hand-blown bottle with madonnas adorning it, antique oil lamps, four “Gone with the Wind’’ lamps, and various dishes and pictures.
