TAMALE KING IN JAIL“Found” Diamond Worth $50 and Hold ii for 10 Outs.M. N. Bacon, known in Joplin as the “Tamale King, which title heacquired through cornering the corn husk market a year or more ago and crowding out his Greek competitors, occupies a cell in the city jail, having been arrested 'yesterday for the alleged theft of a pearl scarf pin valued at $50 from the home of Waiter Bliss, where he was employed to wash windows Wednesday. It was after he had dried the suds and water on each pane of glass that Bacon entered the Bliss home and procured the ! pin, which he later sold to a pawn broker tor a dime.Bacon denied having stolen the pin after his arrest. He told Chief ,1. II. Myers he had worked in many Joplin homes and had had countless I opportunities to steal diamonds and other valuable stones. He admitted taking (he pin, but said he thought it had been cast aside as valueless. The police doubt his story and a warrant charging him with larceny »probably will he issued today.
