Liberal to a fault, industrious, energetic and impulsive, he had strong convictions and advocated them with an earnestness whichmade him a leader of men. It wasthese traits of character that gave him a wide acquaintance and an influence surpassed in its scope by thatof few in this part of Ohio. He was known to the pioneers, who lived in log cabins; to their children, wdio built our factories, mills, towns and rail roads. It is these whose hearts will go out in sympathy, when they learn that his active spirit quietly passed away at nine o’clock Sundaymorning.Horn Charles P. Edson was born January 2nd, 1809, in Vermont. Moved to New York in 1828, and moved to Ohio in the fall of the same year; studied law in the office of Judge Wilman, at Brimtield, and was18431846later was elected to represent Mercer and Van Wert counties in the Ohio Legislature and was re-elected in 1857. He held various offices of honor and trust in this county and was aleader in management of parties.The funeral took place on last Wednesday, at 2 o'clock, from his late residence on the West Hide.
