Rietmann-Fosco has come a long way from her grandmother’s living room - roughly 430 miles to the fashion tents of New York City’s Bryant Park.Rietmann-Fosco recently returned to Erie from the New York's famed Fashion Week, an eight-day, semiannual celebration at which designers showcase their fall collections.A stylist and colorist at Erie's Hair Obsessions Salon, Rietmann-Fosco worked as a member of a team styling hair for three designers.G-Star wanted sleek, polished curls.Y Kei, a favorite clothing designer of Britney Spears, wanted a hair twist at the nape of the neck.And Vivienne Tam wanted, well, everything - until she finally decided her willowy models would sport a simple ponytail.Cameras Hashed, designers barked orders, and, in the middle of it all, Rietmann-Fosco juggled hair dryers, brushes and tubes of styling gel.It was chaos,” she said. “Total chaos.”Rietmann-Fosco earned the trip to Fashion Week after successfully completing a runway styling workshop offered by Aveda, the Blaine, Minn.-based hair and beauty-product company. Hair Obsessions is an Aveda salon, and owner Leslie Barney encourages all of her employees to take courses and workshops to improve their skills.“Jill's a very’ proactive young lady,” Barney said. That's one thing that separates us. ...
