EFLECTIONS __ By Dorothy TaylorHere we go again! Another one of those first cousins bit the dust. His nickname was Jiggs and if you remember he was included in a Reflections . not too long ago. We had visited Myra and learned first hand from a dear friend just how Jiggs was as a child growing up in Myra. His family lived there at the time and my friend planned to drop water on Jigg's head from an upstairs window as he passed along with another friend walking beside him. But, the friend was drenched instead. Next thing they tried was to tie him up, feet first, from the barn loft, which they did. And then, the family moved away.In the long ago I do remember Grannie Vestal'sfuneral. She had passedaway in Corpus Christi at my Dad's twin sister's home. It was up to Dad and my Uncle Bet to see that she arrived safely on thetrain and make her way tothe Liberty Baptist Church in the Hays Community in Cooke County, and the cemetery across the road from the church. She was laid to rest beside her beloved husband who had been there since about 1908. (And yes, Dad and his siblings grew up without a Dad.)What a day it was! The house was filled with lots of folks from far and wide. All Dad's sisters and brothers were there and their families. Cars were parked all over the yard. It was probably close to the last time I saw Jiggs. He was alldressed in his Navy outfitand home on emergency leave. It was one of those times Boob didn't take to his desires. Once he tried to hug Boob and she wouldn't deal with it at all. Herrecall is that he said, Can't I Hug my first cousin? Perhaps Boob was recalling the few times that he had chased us all over the chicken yard to kiss us when he was somewhat younger, and we were too.Know what he became?
