*Free Jazz Concert in HUB TodayThe Thom Collins Trio will present a free jazz concert beginning at 1 p.m. today in the Hetzel Union main lounge.The members of the trio pictured above are, from left to right: Stanford Alabovitz (6th-speech pathology andaudiolo-gy-Dickson), lead guitar and lead vocal; James Corfield (5th - aerospace engineering-New Brighton), drums; Lenore Reitman (8th-psychology-Phila-delphia), vocal; and Louis Paradise (7th - psychology - Scranton), bass guitar.Although most people associate the name Thom Collins with a popular rock and roll group, the group also plays jazz; in fact, they prefer to play jazz. According to BobSchaefer (5th-mechanical engi-neering-Malvern), manager of the group, “because we like to play jazz, we usually stay after our engagements and play jazz, just for our own enjoyment.”The group plays jazz of the old standard style/’ with numbers like “Misty’* and “Satin Doll,” which were popular during the 20's and 30’s,lt;1Schaefer said.Schaefer usually plays trombone with the group, but will be unable to be in today’s concert.This jazz session is the second in a series of bi-weekly jazz sessions sponsored by the HUB Spotlight Committee “toexpope University students to jazz,” according to Pete Sidle (2nd-business administration-West Springfield, Va.).Sidle said he hopes many students will take advantage of today’s opportunity to enjoyan afternoon of jazz.
