Keighley and Others Saturday Morning—$27,000 For Coming Year's Work.Connollsvilie, Feb. 22.—The climax of interest in the state Y. M. C. A. convention is expected tomorrow, when convention speakers wiU occupy the pulpits of 10 churches in Connells-ville and vicinity in the morning, while during the duy there will be four separate meetings, one for men, one for boys between 15 and 20 years of age, one for the younger boys and one for women.On Sunday night all the churches of town will have services at 7 o’clock in time to dismiss in time for the farewell service of the convention at the Soisson theater at 8:30.This evening the employed officers of the local Y. M. C. A. will givo a banquet at Markell hall to. the visiting employed o/flcers.At this morning's session Thomas L. Lawton of Philadelphia gave an address on Causes of Weakness and Failure in Young Men’s Christian Associations,” and William V. Doyle of the Carnegie Tech School of Pittsburg an address’ on “Our Responsibility Educationally to Unskilled Men and Hoys Employed in Mercantile and Industrial Pursuits.”Fred C. Keighley of Uniontown spoke on “Associations in Mining Institutes,’ and impressed the thought that these institutes arc very helpful for the exchange of Ideas.The executive committee flxed the amount for general work the comlug year at $27,000 and for mining work, $0,000. - ... ...lion. A. J. Nathan, u reform fed Jew of Ridgewood, N. J„ tnade a powerful address on the liquor question.A resolution was adopted last evening to raise $7,000 to send Professor Edward A. Steiner of. Orlnnel! (la.) college and four young men to Europe, It Is proposed that they spend u year Studying classes of foreigners who emigrate to this country. The Intention is to gain information llmt will enable the Y. M. C. A. to do better work among the foreign element here. Resides Professor Steiner, Neal McMil-len. of Chicago, spoke.
