District KC Master to Be Guest Speaker at, EventAugust Brunner, Master of the 4th New York District of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will be guest speaker at the first annual Civic and Religious dinner and dance to be held by the Oswego Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus on Saturday, Feb. 28.Brunner, leader of all Upstate New York Assemblies, will headline a full evening of activities that are now being finalized for what is assured of being one of the largest formal affairs ever held by the local Knights.Social SecurityTo get quick results when you report a change of address or other events that affect receipt of your monthly benefit check, go directly to your local social security office.If your child is receiving social security checks and is disabled or a full time student, visit your district office two or three months before his 18th birthday to be sure that his benefits will continue after age 18.Have you thought to collect social security checks and continue working? You may be entitled to benefits.General Chairman Clarence Miller indicates that although the cocktail hour and dinner to be held at the Colonial House is restricted to Sir Knights and their ladies, the dance to immediately follow is open to all Knights of Columbus and their guests and a most cordial invitation is extended to all.Highlight of the dinner and dance will be the presentation of a plaque to be award to the Oswegonian who contributed the most in the past year to the civic and religious betterment of the community. Chairman Joseph Donovan, assisted by Frank Riley and the Rev. Robert E. Hall, Faithful Friar will make the announcement of the individual to be honored within a few days.Dancing with Ange Spano and his orchestra coupled with a “sing along,” special refreshments and a light lunch will be Available for all Knights and indications are that a full house will be present. Ticket Chairman Thomas Familo reminds al that tickets are at a premium and reservations will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Members are urged to call for their tickets either at the Knights of Columbus Home or by contacting the chairman. Chairman Mike Cali is also busy completing his plans for elaborate decorations and is being assisted by a committee composed of Sir Knights Dave Dowie, T. J. Burke, John Ainsworth, Robert Cloonan and Joseph Murabito.At a recent meeting, Faithful Navigator George J. Breitbeck appointed a Scholarship Committee consisting of Chairman Grand Knight John Ainsworth, Past Grand Knights Tommy Christian and William Joyce and Brothers Robert Wood and T. J. Burke. It will be the duties of this committee to recommend all scholarship contributions of the Assembly for the year. The assembly will also participate in the annual Eastern States Bowling tournament to be held in Kenmore, on April 4 and 5th which will kick off a variety of activities planned for the spring fraternal year.
