Benefit Planned for JimPorterBy NIKI LEE MAHONEY Tribune Staff WriterThe West Vigo Jaycees are sponsoring a country and western and variety show featuring local talent Sunday, March 7, at 3 p.m. in Tilson Music Hall of the Tirey Memorial Union at Indiana State University.In addition to the Harry Weger show, some of the performers appearing on the program will be Louie Popejoy and the Wabash Valley Boys, the Country Twirlers Square Dancers, Don Armstrong and the Country Jets, Keith Shaw andthe Wabash Valley Ramblerswith Alan Daley, Ramblin’ Red Richey and Country McCullough, Tex Terry, veteran Hollywood film star; Red Barkley, Keith Reedy and the Fireballs, the Highlanders BarbershopChorus, Jerry Kelley and the Jokers and others.All proceeds will go to Jim Porter, 23, formerly of West Terre Haute, who is eleventh in line for a kidney transplant. Porter and his wife, the former Connie Moss, live in Indianapolis with their twin girls who are approximately onemonth old.Because of his kidney ailment,Porter is unable to work.
