Ttiomosville Timei-Enterprise, Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1965—3■ . . 9*Square Dancers Organize New Clubs, GraduationsPELHAM — Western style Sylvester Club, square dancing is still growing in popularity in Southwest Georgia; Two new clubs, have- -been organized as graduation exercises were held for the first class.In the Coolidge High School gymnasium, 13 eoupl$ received their diplomas for completing the square dance course.Instructor Cecil Futch of the Pelham Club said these couples had shown proficiency.He announced mat *;noch and Charlotte Pilkinton had been elected the first prsesidents of the organization.Others in the class were Arthur and Anna Bell Pilkinton, Estus and Lester Bustle, Harold and Rosa Lee Baker, Carnell and Hope Baker, Alton and Carol Harrison, Tom and Virginia Brock, Everett and Frances Pierce, Theodore Alii good, Linda Alligood, Olenda Alligood, Moriah Oliver, Neal and Betty Joyce Cone, Woody and Myra Hall, Deweitt and Jean Smith and Franklin and Doris Smith.Assisting Mr. Futch in calling was Bill Farmer from theClubs attending the graduation party were Pelham, Meigs,Thomasvllle, Lakeland, “Vaffloik ta and Sylvester.ON JAN. 30, 8 couples 'were graduated*’ in exercises at the Woman’s Club Building in Cairo.Helen and Bill Whitfield, both members of the newly organized club and of the first graduation class, were elected presidents.Other couples were G e 1 o tt and Myrna Galbreath, Marvin and Lorene Grubbs, Wallace and Barbara Shore, Rudolph and Winifred Maxwell, James and-Annette Joiner, La von Hayes, Mrs. Reba Beckley and Frank and Shirley Womble.Assisting Mr. Futch at thesa exercises were Ralph Jonei and Bob Bennett from the VaV-dosta Club.The club voted to hold regular dance meetings on the second and fourth Friday of each month.Club* visiting wen Pelham, Meigs, ThomasviUe, Lakgfoprf, Valdosta, Coolidge and Quitman*.
