HONOR PIONEER JONES COUNTY FARMER ON 85TH BIRTHDAYHARM HELGEX'S.Special to The Gazette.MONTICELLO — Harm Hel-gens, prominent farmer of Wayne township, was honored on his eighty-fifth birthday at a family gathering at his home Sunday. All of his children with the exception of one daughter. Mrs. William Collman of Janesville, Minn., were present. Mr. Helgens was born in Osfriesland, Germany, and he came with his parents to America when he was four years old. The family located at Sterling, 111., where they lived for several years before coming to Iowa and settling in Wayne township.Mr. Helgens has lived on the farm which is now his home for the last fifty-five years. He was married in 1876 to Miss Anna Tobiason of Wayne. Six children were born: Fred Helgens, Mrs. William Collman, Mrs. Henry Zimmerman, George Helgens, Mrs. Alfred Folkers and Rhiney Helgens. His second marriage in 1900 was to Mrs. Grace Zimmerman and they became the parents j of three children, Herman, Ed-wrard and Louis Helgens. Mr. ; Helgens also has three step-child-ren, Mrs. Carl Siebels, W. J. Zimmerman and Mrs. Henry Tobiason. He has forty grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
