Holt on Tuesday afternoon to the members of the Woman's Missionary Union. j as» iWhen each of the guests received j ®al their invitation, they were asked to bring with them a large tea-towel,needle and thimble. This caused much*excitement, for all wondered who the “bride'* was to be.The first part of the afternoon was spent in hemming the towels with red thread, furnished by the hostess. All started hemming at the same time, as the one finishing first was to receive a reward. Mrs. F. T. Butt was the lucky one and was given a pretty eup-towel, with a cup and saucer em*JutfinInaiwe:thecorLivBeBaraiS|«an;iJbroidered in one corner. \y.edthifoiAfter this a Valentine story, which had been cut into small pieces, was put Into its proper form.Then followed the interesting and j th; laughable task of trying td pin cupid’s Hi arrow in the center of the heart. Mrs. i th' Lewis Lee received the prize In this. H« a lovely candy heart. Another enjoyable contest was that of trying to throw hearts into a bucket., - , | 1 aThe guests were then invited into the dining room, which was lovely in its Valentine decorations. The table was artistically decbtated in hearts, a i 011I large cake, on which were six tiny j ‘I*candles, forming the center piece. Then, turning to Mrs. F. E. |Garrett, she to id: “Mrs. Garrett has the honor of having Valentine as her birthday, also, to to bar we present the towels. Thus, the “towel mysterywa* solved, and ail were pleased tothus honor Mrs. Garrett.In closing her word of thanks, Mrs. j ,j Garrett stated that he had a surprise for the guests. She said she had been forbidden to tell it, but she knew all would wish to know it, and this surprise was, that Valentine Day was a also Mrs. Holt's birthday.
