onsin, February 17, 1915.R-tbisLGkiInOPENING OF ELKS A GRAND EVENT,S.Lull!a,illr.atidsrnie»nlohi-t,isThe new Elks liail was formallyopened 10 the public on Thursday and _ .Friday evenings of last weelc, and i- ! judging from the number who turned out to take part In the affair, it was one ol! the most joyful events that has ever occurred In Grand Hap Id s.The doings on Thursday evening were far Hie Elks and their wives only, and when the grand march was played there were about one hundred anti twenty couple on the floor to take part in the event.Everything about the building had been completed and put into condition for the event, and the different committee h had pci: tor mod their work so thoroiy and conscientiously thatthere was nothing to apologize lor In any way. It seemed as if there was nothing lTor the comfort of the guests that had been forgotten, and many were the expressions of wondor and pleasure that were indulged in by those who bitd never visited the building before and who who did not now what to expect, and who had not anticipated anything half so splendid as the scene that met their eyes w^Lon they eoCored the building.The building itself Is designed in a manner that is calculated to impress a person as to its handiness and adaptability for the purpose intended,, and then the finish ot the interior all the way lIitu is unique tuid at the same time quiet and subdued, sn thiuthere is nothing glary nor offensive about it in aiy way. ' *The entire lighting of ill© buTding lias been attended to in a manner I hat called .forth many favorable! comments, the wiring and fixtures having been installed by Joe Staub. The tables and cigar case was manufactured by C. J, Kandy, as were some of the other furnishings about thebuilding. The Ahdawagain Furniture company furnished some ol the furniture for the ladies dressing room and this was right in line and fully as neat as anything that was bought out of the city. In fact all of the work done by home concerns was as good as that from out of town.The furnishings thruout the building have been, selected with great tasto, and this fact contributes more to the appearance of the interior than any other one thing.There are a great many people who imagine that the buying of furniture Is merely the expenditure of a certain amount of money, and that one man can do It as well as another, but this is not a fact.
