Ever since the Spanish war, up to a couple of years ago, we have hud a celebration that tuts d ne more than any one other thing to put Laredo on the map.’*Beginning vith the modest efforts of the local Bed Men's tribe it grew into a celebration that vrould have been creditable to a city many timesour alze People came by thousand*ftorn Northern Mexico and from va« rlous eclions of Texas, as Wall as from other states, and during the celebration. which usually tasted three days, Laredo presented au animated uppeatunce and the visitor* enjoyedtht mselVes hugely.fot only did the presence of sotunny visitors mean large sales by the lairedo mere bants. money spent with hotels and boarding house i andconsiderable Uuslne s foi ot»r local banks, but/ the teiebratmn helped toadver* W**1 Laredo abroad as nothing
