Quite an enjoyable time was had at the pleasant borne of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Godsey Thursday, the occasion being a carpet rag sewing match. Everythingwent merry as n bell. The ladies sewedand talked and talked and sewed till dinner was announced, and such a dinner! The table was loaded down with every good thing imaginable and more too, to which the guests did ample justice. Dinner being o\er the guests repaired to the parlors where it wub proposed by one of the number that they have a race to determine who was the most expert seamstress, and as spool after spool of thread found its way between the splices of the Hi tie carpet string the race got very exciting aud was kept up until the sturdy old clock ou the mantle shelf admonished them that it was time to hie away to' tbeir respective homes. Miss Effie Rodman wuh declared the winner. We presume1 the fair champion will wear the belt in honor of her recent victory. Those present were Mrs. W. H. Burr us, Mrs. J, i A. Harding, Mrs. W. S. Wolfe,, Mrs. L.! G. Rodman, Mrs. Beiij. Hodgiu, Mrs. j Isaac Madden and the Misses Katie! Hodgia, Lillie Madden, Eliza Rodman,' KHio Bod man and Rowe Rodman.
