Title Defense Headliner Of Portland CardPORTLAND — Irish Beau Jaynes’ defense of his New England junior lightweight boxing championship against bulldog Billy McCluskey is tonight’s headliner here on a seven - bout card that schedules 38 rounds.The unbeaten McCluskey, with 73 amateur bouts behind him is Portland’s latest pride and joy; he’s the socker they like. But he hasn’t yet in his professional career of 11 bouts met up with the smartness of a Beau Jaynes.It’ll be a battle of decisions—who’ll make the wrong move because Jaynes also can punch with authority on occasion and McCluskey’s chin is yet to be treated.The six-round semifinal will bring together heavyweights Doug Hogan of Medford. Mass.. last year’s New England AAU champion, and Bob Hazelton of Philadelphia. Generally you only have to say a fighter’s from Philly, and that’s enough. Hazelton isn’t known here.In another six, smooth Tommy Foss of Peaks Island will tangle with Bill Payson of New York and this is another guessing game. Neither knows a’ thing about the other.
