Car Hits Highway WorkerROCHESTER—A state highway worker was injured Tuesday morning when he was struck by a car on U.S. 31 a mile and a half north of here.Larry W, Crow, 23, Rt. 1, Argos, was treated at Woodiawn Hospital for hip and leg injuries suffered at 8:50 a.m. when he was hit by a ear driven by Joseph E. Adams, 19, Plymouth.Officers haid Crow and Steve Perdue, 500 ffi. 14th St., were patching holes in the highway, working behind a state highway truck stopped in the southbound lane of traffic.Crow began flagging Adams down as the Plymouth youth approached from the north. Adams braked but Crow apparently thought the car was going to hit the truck and jumped toward the northbound traffic lane. Adams swerved but hit Crow near the center of the highway, throwing him off the road on the cast side.A car and a truck were damaged at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday in a head-on collision on the U.S. 31 bridge over. the Tippecanoe River two miles north of here.Joseph L. Blocher, 27, Rt. 1, North Manchester, headed north in a three-quarter-ton truck, stopped to allow a southbound' car to cross the bridge, on which only one lane is open, then pulled onto the bridge. He collided with a southbound car driven by John F. Mizerek, Muskegon/Mich. The car was knocked against the west side of the bridge, bending part of the railing.Larry D. Loyd, 29, of 215 E. Fourth St., was fined '$23.25 Monday night in city court for speeding after a one-car accident earlier in the day. Police said he lost control of his car and struck' a street light pole.
