Lady ElksInitiate 12A formal initiation of 12 now members of Ladies of the Elks was held February 4. Mrs. Ro-mfman R a i c h e r t. membership chairman, presented to president, Mrs. George Jirgal, the following candidates: Mesdames J. Wallace Mehring, William Luse and Ronald Milota of Chicago, Frank Willig, Richard Curran, William Buliis, Richard Askew and J. Heifner of Des Plaines and Ralph Heberling, Arlington Heights, Edward Leifer, Park Ridge, and Anthony Caliento, Mt. Prospect.7'!us was also past-presidents’ night. New members and past presidents received wristlet gardenia corsages.Past presidents in attendance were: Mesdames Walter Morava, Homer Kaufman, James Bradley, William Kunkel, Louis Spieg-ler, Frank Opeka, Harvey Shepp-hard, B. B. Grichter, Arthur V i I -debille, Charles Arrigo and Chester Mueller.HOSTESS COMMITTEE forthe evening included MesdamesClarence Tomshek. John Nissen,Henry Schure, William Schuster and Frank Embrey. The centerpiece was an arrangement of red and white carnations topped by a red and white tulle heart. Pink cubes of ice cream and heart shaped petits fours were on themenu.Mrs. Howard Becker, community service chairman, reports a great need for all types of greeting cards and scraps of yarn to be used by Vaughn hospital patients and children in the hospital pediatric w ards.Hospitalized members are Airs.O. Kummerle, Mrs. C. C. Christiansen and Mrs. Eric Kuntze.THE LADY ELKS are now involved in a beauty contest. Mrs.— VJohn Bond, hospital chairman, invited members to submit names of attractive members “under 35 (?)” for an area Elk beauty contest. The w inner will be selected bv Vaughn patients.The nominating committee, headed by Mrs. Wilbur Jablon-ski, named the 1957-58 candidates for office: president, Mrs. R. 11. Imig; vice president.
