Ralph E. ‘Barney' AllenderTOLEDO — Toledo resident Ralph E. “Barney Allender died Sunday, Feb. II, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia of complications from open heart surgery. He was 78.Bom March II, 1917, at Cougar Flats area which was later known as Ryderwood, he was the youngest son of Elbridge and Emma Allender. He attended Ryderwood School.A 19-year employee of Weyerhaeuser Co., he was first a logger and then worked as a log truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and camping.Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jackie (Riegger), at the family home; a son, Ralph O. of Winlock; three daughters, Carol Thompson of Napavine, Linda DeSpain of Hawaii, and Sue Wickert of Evaline; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers.
