District 159 musiciansperform during festivalThe Elementary School District 159 jazz band traveled to Bloomington to participate in the 17th annual Illinois Wesleyan University JazzFestival.The 23-member group, under the direction of Laura Stroede, received outstanding comments by the festival judges for their performance. The students also had the opportunity to hear saxophonist Ray Smith and the IWU Jazz Ensemble.Four students received All-Star Jazz Player awards for theif solo performances at the festival. Winners were trumpet players Candy Miller and Brandon Madison, Taleta Robinson on trombone and Curtis Young on drums.
